Director of Underwriting

Aggressive Growth Client seeks Director of Underwriting in Ohio to expand nationally.

Join a team to support the Client’s national growth strategies and expansion. The Ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the COO in maintaining underwriting standards and best practices for specified programs and will assist in directing the Underwriting teams of specified business unit to ensure that assigned program underwriting results are consistent with established guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Approve loans in excess of unit/department level authorities. 
  • Ensure conformity with CLIENT’s policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the delinquency, loss, and risk rating accuracy. 
  • Assist relationship managers with structuring, pricing and documentation of individual loan transactions
  • Monitor and review staff's loan underwriting and portfolio management performance.
  • Plan, organize, and direct managers and staff in accomplishing business goals. 
  • Develop and analyze new business prospects.
  • Manage on-going account relationships. 
  • Prepare or review reports provided to senior management regarding loan quality performance. 
  • Review and approve workout strategies for individual problem loans.
  • Twenty Five plus direct reports.
 
Requirements:
  • 10 plus years lending experience.
  • Five plus years management experience
  • Mortgage industry leadership experience in lending.
  • Mortgage compliance knowledge and experience.
  • Prior experience with Profit and Loss Expense management, cost per loan, and productivity.
  • Experience with non-conforming loan products including exception and expert judgment decisions.
  • Prior management experience leading large teams with the highest level of underwriting authority within the organization.
 
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
  • 10 plus years lending experience.
  • Five plus years management experience.
  • Mortgage industry leadership experience in lending.
  • Mortgage compliance knowledge and experience.
  • Prior experience with Profit and Loss Expense management, cost per loan, and productivity.
  • Experience with non-conforming loan products including exception and expert judgment decisions.
  • Prior management experience leading large teams with the highest level of underwriting authority within the organization.
